In the middle of a fast-paced city, sometimes all you crave is a place that feels like a pause — a space that grounds you, soothes you, and reminds you of all the places you've been. That was the heart of our brief when we began designing this 3BHK apartment in Bangalore.
Our clients, a couple of avid travellers with a deep appreciation for culture, nature, and craftsmanship, wanted their home to be more than just aesthetically pleasing. They wanted it to reflect a life well-travelled — layered with stories, textures, and quiet luxury — while still being functional for everyday living.
Rooted in Nature, Styled With Purpose
From the moment you enter, the home tells its own story. Inspired by the lush greenery just beyond the windows, we chose a palette of earthy tones, natural textures, and warm materials. Think wood, stone, jute, soft cottons — all working together to bring the outside in.
The living room, for instance, balances comfort and sophistication. With transitional-style furniture, clean lines, and plush seating, it’s built for conversation, reflection, or simply watching the day go by. Artifacts picked up from the couple’s travels sit effortlessly on curated open shelves — a Moroccan lamp here, a Balinese carving there — each piece personal, never performative.
Travel, Translated Into Design
Designing a home for travellers is a joy — it means every room has a narrative, a memory to honour, and a new layer to add. Rather than decorating with travel memorabilia, we wove their journey into the bones of the space. The arched details, warm wall tones, and handwoven textiles all reflect the sense of discovery they value so deeply.
The dining area carries a similar tone — elegant yet unpretentious. A simple solid wood table anchors the room, surrounded by upholstered chairs in a soft, sandy hue. Subtle lighting adds mood, while tableware from Japan and Portugal brings in moments of cultural layering that feel lived-in, not styled.
Bedrooms That Offer Retreat, Not Routine
Each of the bedrooms was tailored to how the couple unwind. The master bedroom is intentionally muted, with soft linens, calming greys and greens, and minimal decor — a nod to the Zen-like hotels they loved in Kyoto. One of the guest rooms doubles up as a reading corner, with an oversized lounge chair, built-in bookshelf, and vintage travel posters framed like artwork.
Even the smallest spaces, like the entryway or powder room, carry thought and restraint — from space-saving storage solutions to the choice of ambient lighting and brushed gold hardware.
A Home That Grows With You
The result is a home that feels grounded yet transportive — a space where every material has purpose, every colour has a reason, and every object has meaning. It doesn’t follow trends. It follows the people who live in it.
That’s always been at the core of what we do at Tesor Designs: crafting homes that evolve with your lifestyle. Whether it’s designing around your love for travel, your need for peace, or your growing family — we make sure the space reflects not just how you want it to look, but how you want it to feel.
